Price history
See every price a supplier has charged you for a product, by unit, location and period.
The price on a product is what your practice pays today. Behind it is every price that supplier has charged you for it. Price history shows that record as a chart and a table, so you can tell whether today's price is a good one before you reorder.
Open the price history
You can open it from wherever you see a price:
- Catalog: press the price on a product card. Where a small chart button sits beside the price, it does the same.
- Product page: press View Product Data, under the price.
- Cart: press the unit price of a line, written like $11.49 each, or the line's name.
- Order: on Order Summary, press an item's name or its Req. Unit Price.
The Product Data window opens on its Price history tab, for the unit you pressed. From the catalog, it opens on the location chosen at the top of the page; from the cart or an order, on that line's location.
What the window shows
At the top is the product: the location, its name, the Supplier, and its Supplier Product ID, Manufacturer Product ID and Wren Product ID. Highest Price and Lowest Price show the most and least you have paid, with their dates.
The Pricing Over Time chart draws a dot for every price on record, joined by a line, with months along the bottom and dollars up the side. Move over a dot to see its date and price.
Nothing you do in the window changes a price. It only reads the history.
Change the unit, location or period
Three menus sit above the chart:
- Unit of measure. Starts on the unit you pressed and lists the product's other units, each with its own prices.
- Location. Each location is its own account with the supplier, so each has its own history. When you have more than one, All locations puts every location's prices together.
- Period. Choose 3 Months, 6 Months, 1 Year or All time. The window opens on the shortest period that holds a price, and a note over the chart says when it had to look further back.
Use the table
Under the chart, the same prices are listed as a table with Date, Location, UOM and Price.
- Press the arrows beside a heading to sort by it.
- Type in Search Items to narrow the rows by date, location, unit or price.
- Press the expand button to open the table full screen.
Read it before you reorder
Compare today's price with the record. If it is close to the Highest Price, it may be worth waiting or asking your sales rep. If it is close to the Lowest Price, it is a good time to stock up.
