Custom products

Add a product of your own for a supplier you added yourself, so you can order it in Wren.

A supplier you added yourself, such as a local shop or a dental lab, has no catalog in Wren to start with. Custom products let you add the items you buy from them, with your own units and prices, so you can order them like any other product.

Before you start

Custom products belong to suppliers you added yourself. If you have not added the supplier yet, see Suppliers not on Wren.

Search first. Wren holds a shared database of products, and starting from a match fills in the details for you, so nothing is typed twice.

Find or create the product

  1. In the Catalog, choose your supplier in the supplier picker at the top.
  2. Press the three-dot button beside the search box. It appears only for a supplier you added yourself.
  3. In Search your product, search by name, manufacturer or ID.
  4. If the product is listed, press it. Your form starts from its details.
  5. If nothing matches, press Create a new product to start a blank form.

The form has three steps: Product Details, UOM & Pricing and Product Images.

Step 1: Product Details

Fill in what the product is:

  • Product Name
  • Supplier Product Id, the number your supplier sells it under
  • Manufacturer Product ID
  • Manufacturer, picked from the list
  • UNSPC Code
  • Product Description

NDC and GTIN are optional. Continue turns on once every required field is filled.

Step 2: UOM & Pricing

Add each unit you buy the product in:

  1. Choose a UOM Type from the list, or create a new one.
  2. Enter its Pricing.
  3. Add a UOM Description that says what the unit equals, such as 100 per box.
  4. To add another unit, press Add New UOM. The bin beside a unit removes it.
  5. Press Continue.

Step 3: Product Images

Add up to 5 pictures of the product. JPEG and PNG files are supported, up to 10 MB each. The picture marked Primary Image is the one the catalog shows; press Set Primary on another picture to change it.

Press Finish to add the product to the supplier. If you close the window before Finish, nothing is added.

Order a custom product

Once added, the product is listed in the Catalog under your supplier, at the price you entered. Wren marks that price as entered by your team, and the stock shows Not connected, because Wren has no link to ask the supplier.

  1. Press Add to Cart on the product.
  2. In Select Unit of Measure, choose one of your units and the quantity.
  3. Press Add to Cart.

In the cart, the product is grouped under its supplier and location with everything else. When you order, Wren emails the purchase order to the supplier's sales contact as a PDF, and you follow it under Orders.
