Approve an order
Approve an order waiting for review, take an approval back, and how self approval works.
Approvals give your practice a second pair of eyes before money is spent. An order marked Ready for Review waits as Pending Review until it has the approvals your account asks for. Approving happens on the order itself, so you see exactly what you are saying yes to.
Find orders waiting for you
- Open Orders in the sidebar.
- Press Pending Review. The list keeps only the orders waiting for approval.
- Press an order to open it.
The Pending approvals counter at the top of the Orders page tells you how many are waiting.
Approve an order
At the top of the order you see its Reviewers (a tick means that person approved) and its items, supplier by supplier, below.
- Check the items and totals on Order Summary.
- Press Approve. If your account asks for more than one approval, the button shows the count so far, for example Approve (1/2).
- The Confirm Order Approval window shows the order's total. Press Yes, Approve.
Your tick is added beside your name under Reviewers. When the order has all the approvals it needs, Submit Order appears so it can be sent. See Review and send an order.
Take an approval back
Changed your mind? After you approve, the button becomes Undo Approval. Press it to take your approval back. It is available for as long as the order is still in Pending Review.
Stop an order instead
If an order should not go ahead at all, press Close Order and give a reason. See Close or reopen an order.
Approving your own order
By default, the person who created an order cannot approve it. If you try, Wren tells you: You cannot approve your own order. Someone else on your team approves it instead, which keeps the review meaningful.
Account admins can change this in the account's Order Settings:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Require Approvals | Orders need a sign-off before they are submitted. |
| Number of Approved Reviews Needed | How many approvals an order collects before it goes out. |
| Allow Self Approval | Order creators may approve their own orders. |
| Allow Admins to Bypass Approval | Admins may submit orders without waiting on approvals. |
