Add a shipment
Add a shipment yourself for an order that has gone out, so it can be tracked and received.
Most shipments reach Wren by themselves once a supplier ships. Now and then you know an order is on its way before Wren does: the rep emailed you a tracking number, or someone dropped the box off in person. Create Shipment lets you add the shipment yourself, so it can be followed and received like any other.
An order that has been sent but has no shipment yet reads Awaiting Shipment. Those are the orders you can add a shipment for.
Add a shipment
Press Create Shipment on the Shipments page, or on the Shipments tab of an order. A window opens with three steps.
Step 1: Pick the supplier order
What Supplier Order Is this Shipment For? Each card is a supplier order that has been sent and has no shipment yet. It shows the PO Number, the Items, the date it was Created and its Status.
- Type in Search Supplier to find a supplier by name, if the list is long.
- Press the card for the order the shipment belongs to.
- Press Next. It stays grey until you pick an order.
Step 2: Choose the items
Which items are being shipped? Every item of the order is ticked at first, because most boxes hold all of them.
- Untick anything that is not in this box. Select all ticks every item again, and Search items narrows a long list.
- Press Next. At least one item has to stay ticked.
Step 3: Say how it is tracked
How will this shipment be tracked?
- Choose the Carrier, such as UPS.
- Type the Tracking ID. It must be at least 5 characters, and Wren checks it with the carrier.
- If you know it, pick the Expected Delivery Date.
- Press Confirm shipment.
Confirm shipment stays grey until a carrier and a Tracking ID are filled in.
A delivery with nothing to track
For a box handed over in person, or one with no tracking number, turn on Manually Tracked. Wren then asks only for the Expected Delivery Date, and you can press Confirm shipment straight away.
After you add it
The shipment appears in the list with its carrier and tracking number, and no longer reads Awaiting Shipment. Open its row to see the items you put in it. When the box arrives, receive it as usual. See Receive a delivery.
The order you used no longer shows in step 1, which offers only orders still waiting for a shipment. If you close the window before pressing Confirm shipment, nothing is added.
